Despite the rain, the crowd seemed to be in good spirits, much thanks to the MC for the evening, Symone Says.  She is known around Vancouver for being one of the best performing drag queens with infectious whit and charm.

Here are the collections that stood out for us on Day 3 of Vancouver Fashion Week.

Pouneh Askarian

Pouneh Askarian’s creations this season were stunning! The models looked elegant while walking the runway in the  collection that consisted mostly of black, grey, cream and white. A pleasing variety of fabric manipulation added to the depth of this line.

Nadia + Zehra

The London based, twin sister fashion designers energized us with their loud and in-your-face collection. Staying true to form, they produced looks full of mixed and matched prints, metallics, faux fur and colours.  Nadia + Zehra were a huge hit this season, just as they were two seasons season ago and we are looking forward to seeing what they do next! Atsushi Nakashima

We love everything about this designer and his clothing.  Atsushi Nakashima’s collection consisted of futuristic sporty pieces prominently in a neutral palette with some serious pops of neon yellow and green.  Most items were made with trending neoprene, enabling the designer to take advantage by incorporating some beautiful folds and structure to the line.

I just love a crisp white shirt dress!

Albeit shapeless and boxy, it still exudes elegance.  A big trend this spring, I paired this shirt dress with another trend still with us from last year – the blanket cape.  Perfect for layering and super comfortable to sit and watch a series of runway shows in ;p

 Outfit:  Shirt Dress, Blanket Shawl, Necklace – H&M / Heels – Zara / Clutch – Aldo / Lips & Nails – Revlon

Whoo hooo – I fit into all my clothes again!!!

Naturally, this celebration calls for my first style diary of the year after the arrival of my little dude ;p

The last 6 weeks have been a whirlwind of minimal sleep, lots of dirty diapers and constant feeding, which doesn’t sound appealing in the slightest but let me tell you, it’s all completely outweighed and forgotten in an instant the moment Liam gurgles or gives a little smile, the way he snuggles up to me and all the other special moments in between.

So back to style talk – the sunny Vancouver weather inspired me to freshen up my look and this blouse packed the perfect punch of colour which is made even brighter against the dark tan vintage leather coat.

Outfit:  Blouse – Jennyfleur Loves... / Boyfriend Jeans – Zara / Heels – Guess / Coat – Vintage / Earrings – Accessorize / Bag – Urban Outfitters

KIT and Ace Gastown Boutique

Whether you are involved in the fashion industry or not, we are sure you have heard something about Kit and Ace, which opened their first retail location in Vancouver in July 2014.   If you’ve visited downtown, you have also most likely walked past their beautiful location in Gastown, where there always seems to be an employee sewing something new on display in the window.  We were very interested in what this company was up to and set up a quick interview to ease our curious mind ?

What is the 5 year plan for this company?

We see Kit and Ace as a global brand.   We started the company with that plan in mind and have been rapidly expanding to meet that vision.  In less than six months we’ve hired 240 people and will continue to grow in 2015.  In five years we will be a globally recognized brand, known for our innovative technical fabrics that save people time.

How many locations do you have so far?

Currently Kit and Ace has seven locations:  Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon, Toronto, New York and San Francisco. We have a rapid expansion plan for 2015, which includes more locations in North America as well as Europe, Asia and Australia.

What is different about your cashmere?

Our cashmere is part of a proprietary fabric called “Qemir™” (pronounced come-here).  The fabric insures that our clothes can be thrown into the wash and dry without risk of shrinking, stretching or pilling while retaining the luxuriant feeling of cashmere we all love.

What is Meet Kit?

Meet Kit is our feature blog showcasing women that embody the spirit of our muse Kit.  Kit is the type of woman living a full contact lifestyle, finding passion and quality in all that she does. She is our muse and whom we design our products for.  We will have a rotating ensemble of women on the blog that represent Kit in daily life.

What is different about this company that allows it to succeed?

Not only do we have the proven background in the fashion industry in managing a global brand, we’ve brought on a creative team that knows how to think outside the box. We’re creating an entirely new market, Technical Luxury™, and we think people are resonating with wanting a brand that caters to their lifestyle needs and keeps them looking fashionable.

Check them out online at http://www.kitandace.com/ and read about the mother, son founders or stop by their Gastown location on Water Street.

“Your time is precious and your comfort is paramount.  We create designs that look good and feel amazing, so you can forget the small stuff and get on with the big stuff.” – Kit And Ace

Vancouver Beauty Blog

Skin is one of the first things people notice. Having healthy looking skin is also one of the few features that is universally accepted as a sign of beauty. As a result, it is no surprise that skincare is a lucrative business. However, amidst the vast selection of products and multitude of skin care lines it can quickly become an overwhelming process. Which is why Coveting Chi Chi is featuring a 3 part series to target the top 3 most common skin frustrations with a few products to help you unveil your beautiful skin. First up on the list is HYDRATION. After a long hard search of different products, here to the rescue are 5 secret agents that help restore your skin’s moisture.

1. Grab A Nourishing Cleanser with Clarins, Extra-Comfort Anti-Pollution Cleansing Cream. This cleansing cream is more rich and creamy than other cleansers. It is much more gentle on the skin and contains ingredients such as mango and shea butter to keep your skin nourished after cleansing. Bonus: there is quite a lot of product in this 200mL bottle.

2. Embrace the Calming Toner with Fresh, Rose Floral Toner. This beauty is 100% pure rosewater to help return your skin to its natural pH levels after cleansing to maintain healthy, hydrated skin.

3. Get Oiled Up with Josie Maran, 100% Pure Argan Oil Light.  Argan oil is an added step that boosts your moisturizer’s power, leaving your skin feeling more supple and smooth. You only need 3-4 drops of this oil at a time, lasting you for months on end. Note: While this oil is the light option, I recommend using this after cleansing at the end of the day to minimize touchups and blotting throughout the day.

4. Skin, Drink Up with Fresh, Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream. This cream contains 7 active ingredients that work together by boosting your skin’s production of hyaluronic acid to help retain moisture. Depending on your skin type, this moisturizer can give you an added glow, or a soft sheen. Apply this moisturizer after cleansing and allow a few minutes for it to absorb into your skin.

However, if you’re tight on time (especially in the mornings!) try Kiehl’s, Ultra Facial Cream. It draws in moisture from the air around your skin while retaining your skin’s natural moisture.

5. Bat Your Youthful Eyes with Fresh, Black Tea Age-Delay Eye Concentrate. This eye cream leaves the eye area feeling velvety smooth. Even after cleansing the morning after.

However, if you don’t need eye care this powerful, try Fresh, Lotus Eye Gel. It hydrates and has a slightly cooling effect with the same 7 active ingredients as their face cream.

Bonus Round

For an overnight moisture recharge, Origins, Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask instantly hydrates your skin with a mixture of nourishing avocado, and seaweed to repair skin to its natural healthy state to prevent dehydration. While it is an overnight mask, not a lot of product is needed. Simply use this as if you’re using a regular moisturizer. It also smells divine.

Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask

Regardless of your skin type, proper hydration and moisture for your skin has many benefits. One of the most important for many is anti-aging.

Be nice to your skin. It’s with you forever.
